Ghana Police to Embark on a Mass Burial for 120 Unidentified and Unclaimed Bodies

“The Ghana Police Hospital will embark on a mass burial for about one hundred and twenty (120) unidentified and unclaimed bodies as part of routine measures to de-congest the hospital mortuary.”

“These unidentified and unclaimed dead bodies are made up of mostly paupers, unknown former patients, abandoned dead bodies, unidentified accident and crime victims.”

“The general public is hereby being informed to contact the pathology Department of the Ghana Police Hospital for identification of the persons who might have not been seen for some time as part of the search,” the statement added.

The Police Hospital in the statement also advised the public to carry identification cards for easy identification in the event of an accident or emergency situations.

In August this year, a mass burial was held for some 160 unidentified and unclaimed bodies at the mortuary of the Ghana Police Hospital in a similar exercise to de-congest the morgue.

A mass burial was also held for all 39 people who died in the bloody crash on the Techiman-Kintampo road in Bono East Region in March this year.
